Favorite Things Giveaway

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

I think it's time to thank all of my kick-ass followers with a giveaway! Would you guys agree :)?

I've never met a craft supply that I didn't like but I will admit to having some favorites. I thought I'd share some of the craft goodies that I enjoy most of all with my readers. The winner of this giveaway is going to receive all of the awesome stuff that follows!

Yarn Crafts
1 skein of Cascade 128 Superwash
1 set Addi Turbo circular needles

I absolutely adore working with Cascade Yarns. They have lovely fibers and a wide range of colors. When it comes to needles, Addi's are just the best, plain and simple.

Embroidery
4 skeins DNC floss
5 5"x5" squares of fancy felt

I wish I could have a giant wall with every single color of DMC flosses! I know felt doesn't seem like a traditional embroidery supply but it's something that I use in nearly every hoop. This fancy felt is my favorite to work with.

Sewing
3 coordinating fat quarters

I'm a sewing newb but that doesn't stop me from collecting (hoarding) fabric. I especially like fat quarters in a collection of fabrics. They are perfect for small projects.

Paper Crafts
Collection of ephemera
Tim Holtz Distress ink pad
Fantastix smudger

I wasn't that interested in paper crafts until I discovered some of the wonderful and inspiring ephemera pieces out there. I love opening up my bin-o-junk and play with all of it. I recently discovered the wonder that are smudge sticks. These are great for adding softness to stamped designs or aging papers. Also on the topic of aging, Tim Holtz Distress inks are awesome and they come in some great shades!

My Favorite Supply of All
Alphabet stamps

I've you've browsed any of my completed projects, you must know that alphabet stamps are my absolute favorite. I use them ALL the time and can't imagine a crafty life without them.

To review, our winner will receive; 1 skein of Cascade 128 Superwash, 1 set Addi Turbo circular needles, 4 skeins DNC floss, 5 5"x5" squares of fancy felt, 3 coordinating fat quarters, collection of ephemera, Tim Holtz Distress ink pad, Fantastix smudger and a set of alphabet stamps!

Now that I see these all together I realize I'm missing so many other favorite supplies! Aw well, this is a good start for now.

To enter, simply leave a comment about some of your favorite craft supplies! If you are a follower, you can leave two comments and double your chances of winning. Be sure to leave a way for me to reach you.

I'll be picking a winner at random on Sunday, March 18th.

I guess for crochet, I'm loving Caron Simply Soft right now. The vibrant colors make wonderful rainbow scarves and fun granny squares. Plus, it washes easily so I don't worry about the little guy messing it up. I used Lion Brand Hometown yarn to make hats for all my little guys friends on their birthdays after the moms all loved his. It works up super fast and has bright colors too.

For sewing (I'm a newbie too), I'm still collecting. I do love this Japanese fabric I bought online. It's got a very neat texture and wonderful patterns.

Oh, and I'm a follower too. The early comments never win the rafffles, but someone has to do it and I do enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for the giveaway! :)

I like dmc embroidery floss, too. I'm in the process of collecting all the colors for a wallhanging project (I can't figure out how to do it, but I know I need one). I also really like Presencia floss. Almost all the colors are bleach safe which comes in handy for embroidering dish towels and other things that are supposed to be used.

For crochet I always use Susan Bates Silvalume crochet hooks, they're my absolute fave. I prefer metal knitting needles as well.

I'm also a follower and I've been dying to get some nice wool felt ever since I saw your felt embroidery tutorial :)

I love felt so very much, I use it in like every craft.
And the stamps as well.

Oh yeah, and I'm a follower! :D
Love everything about your lil blog. ♥
Have a great day.

One of my favorite yarns is "I Love this Yarn" and I really like those crochet hooks with the soft grip by Clover.

spidermom said...

haha i hoard fabric even though i'm a newbie sewist too!

spidermom said...

hmm so many favorite things! i have a huge yarn hoard that is mostly good ole red heart super saver, but my favorite yarn of the moment is Charisma by Lion Brand. super soft bulky weight at a great price!
also just experimenting with perle cotton floss and really liking the results, but i still love regular six strand DMC!

I'm a little scattered when it comes to art/craft supplies. I don't really have favourites, I just use whatever is handy that will do the job I'm trying to do.

I must admit though, when I do get my hands on some of the swankier supplies -- wool felt instead of acrylic, for example -- I get pretty happy.

Skwishee said...

I also follow your blog - and these things all look lovely, and I love opportunities to work with new things, so I'm crossing my fingers. :)

Oooh how fun! Let's see...Scotch brand glue sticks are a MUST for me. Also, Aleene's brand tacky glue...I use that one paper and fabric when needed, never had any problems with it! Those alpha stamps...I nought two sets in the dollar bin at Michael's, one set looked EXACTLY the same as the $10 set, and I havent had any problems with the cheaper ones. DMC floss, of course is a must. :)

Right now, my favorite things are cardstock, copic pens, and prismacolor pencils for ATCs. I love acrylic yarn, isn't that weird? It's rather scratchy sometimes, but I love it. It makes super warm blankets/hats and sturdy amigurumis...
I have a huge collection of different fabrics to play with in sewing, though I am a complete noob.

I'm also a fan of pictures, so another favorite thing is my Kodak camera. And Moleskin journals...

This is really a gigantic giveaway! How can I NOT leave a couple of comments??

Leslie Andersen said...

Since I'm a follower, here's my second comment: I love wool felt, but just to clarify, the felt being given away here NOT wool, but it IS fancy! I bought some of the Fancy Felt, because wool has two drawbacks: 1)some people are allergic to it, so it's not always great in gift items and 2)little buggies like to eat it, so anything I make with it today might end up with bug holes in the future.

My favorite supply is my sewing machine if you can call it a supply. I guess its a tool. I guess if i can't count that then its definitly fabric. I love looking at all the colorings, and patterns and thinking about all the possibilities.

lynaeve said...

I'm already a follower. My second favorite is hard to say. I guess spools of thread.

kittykill said...

Oh you know I'd follow you anywhere! I love embroidery supplies and I have been craving those stamps forever!

Jody said...

I do follow you and enjoy your creativity and enthusiasm! I'm a knitter, quilter, sewer, beader and stamper, but I won't bother you with more than one entry! I am currently making lined bags for my sock yarn projects, combining the love of fat quarters with yarn! I ordered cotton tape to stamp my name on too!

Nancy said...

Wow- what a great giveaway!!! Hmn...I love working in so many different media, so it's hard to say, but I think I'm most commonly digging through my card stock supply for one reason or another!

Nancy said...

I'm a follower too:)

Leah said...

Embroidery floss, hands down. Well actually, anything and everything for embroidery, but you can't stitch anything without thread!

Leah said...

I'm a follower! Second favorite...probably my fancypants paper cutter. It was a fantastic purchase.

And thanks so much for the chance to win all that awesome stuff! You're so generous!

Jessica Jo said...

It all comes back to my hot glue gun. No matter how much I get into fiber or how much sewing I get done, my glue gun is always at the top of my favorite supplies list. Sure it's a little one but it's been mine for over 9 years.

Jessica Jo said...

Why was I not a follower of yours before?

miranda wall said...

My favorite supply right now is "I love this yarn" yarn from Hobby Lobby. It makes the softest stuffies which I love to knit :)

miranda wall said...

Oh, and I'm a follower :)

Lisa Leggett said...

Oh boy! How could I pick just one?? I mostly do embroidery, so I guess I'd have to say those are my favorite, but I like all these other goodies as well! I've had my eye on a set of those alphebet stamps for a while, and I've been telling myself I'd learn to knit as soon as I finish everything on my to-do list, ha! So many things to try, rarely enough time, but I'm going to keep trying! Thank you for the oppurtunity, this is a fabulous giveaway!

My favorite crafty stuff is everything - oh just two? Well, I have one of those DMC floss guides with a little sample of each color - and I love love love it. Useful for embroidery and anything else that needs color. My other would be my husband's acrylic paints - so I can paint my canvas any color I want!

lewmew said...

Oh and I follow too, through Google reader!

Judy said...

I would love to have some of your fancy felt! I would have to make a fun hoop for Lauren!

My favorite things include DMC floss and lovely fat quarters sprinkled with some wool felt. I enjoy making quilty projects and quilts of all types - including quilts with stitchery. Thank you for such a generous giveaway.

Belladune said...

ooh ooh! I need to try out those Addi's! I need a set of needles, and I can't decide!

My favorite supply is fibre. fibre of all kinds, but especially wool. It's so interesting how you can get so many different yarns, depending on the type of wool you use to make them!

Belladune said...

And I follow! so I noticed this on my blogroll.(or feed or whatever)

My second favorite craft supply is fabric! not much you can't do with fabric!

Bobomom said...

Some of my favorite craft supplies are felt and embroidery floss. I use them all the time - for hoops, dolls, animals, etc.

Rachel @ The Philosophers Wife said...

Oddly enough, I am currently loving Peaches and Creme yarn... It is 100% cotton and my local Dollar Tree seems to have a fairly steady supply.

I would love to win the floss and felt and the fabrics - those are some of my favorite supplies. And the others would be so fun to try. I also love doing paper collages. Thank you!

I'm mainly a knitter but have never used Addi but would love to have some. I used to sew a lot but am just coming back to it after many years. I have a crafty 8 year old granddaughter and we are having loads of fun discovering all sorts of new things to try:-)

Wow, super kickass giveaway!

I know i have favorite craft supplies, but now that i've been asked to write them down, my brain is blank...

Um, i love buttons.

I like knitting with Caron Simply Soft even though it doesn't seem to hold its shape very well...

Oh, and i love fat quarters, too.

Angie said...

And look! I'm a follower! I get to comment twice! :)

I'm a knitter, and I've never used fancy needles but I have tried some lovely yarn (right now I love Black Trillium sock yarn). I also love Briggs & Little for basic, reliable yarn.

Michelle Hudak said...

My favorite crafty-goodies: Mod Podge...I buy the stuff by the case and I have all the varieties, matte, gloss, outdoor (tough to find, but I did). I pretty much Mod Podge everything.

I'm also madly in love with Tim Holtz (don't tell hubby). I buy all his stamps and embellishments and hoard them.

I am a new follower (though I've been reading the blog for a couple of months now).

I think my favorite craft is knitting, but cross stitching and papercrafts have always interested me, and these past couple of years I've started to branch out more.

Thank you for the giveaway and the chance to enter it!

azteclady said...

erm... in the giveaway rules, did you mean leave two comments if you are a follower, or that the comment counts as two entries if you are a follower?

Sorry, I think I'm operating with only half the usual brain cells right now...

Wow! What a terrific giveaway! Some of my favorite supplies or tools for crafting/sewing: My embroidery scissors that are slanted. They make clipping thread effortless, my very nice sewing shears for cutting fabric and fabric only, my fabric stash, even the smallest pieces that come in handy at just the right time and lastly, my computer, which inspires me daily with all the crafty blogs I visit and of course, Pinterest!

Pam Fields said...

My second comment, I'm already a follower and Pinterest follower - Your blog has been my inspiration to pick up needle and thread to embroider after two years of doing nothing! Thanks so much. :)
